About Us

Welcome to Shepherd's Retreat!

We're a family-run glamping business in the heart of Lincolnshire. You will be welcomed and hosted by us, the owners, Sue and Reg.

For both of us, this place is more than a business; it’s a labour of love, shaped over the last decade of hard work, patience, and passion for the land. We're excited to share it with you.

Shepherds Retreat: From Field to Sanctuary

Our glamping retreat stands on what was once arable fields. Today, it has been transformed to create Shepherds Retreat - sitting in thirteen acres of woodland, meadow and parkland, restored to create a haven for wildlife and a peaceful setting for guests. We’ve worked tirelessly to create and nurture natural habitats and have been rewarded with ever-increasing biodiversity - everything from bats to badgers!

Family Ties

Every hut is built by Reg, whose background in bespoke boat building brings craftsmanship and character to each cabin. Inside, Sue adds comfort and warmth with beautiful furnishings and hand-sewn touches.

The huts are each to be named after women in the family, giving a lovely mix of names spanning three generations. We even purchased a piece of land to create 'Weston Walk', a path linking the retreat directly to Skendleby Village and its pub. It’s a nod to our family name, but also a gift to guests who want a countryside stroll from the huts into village life.

 Thoughtful Spaces

We’ve designed the retreat to bring people closer together to nature. A woodland trail winds its way to a fire pit for evenings under the stars, while our up-cycled silo will soon be turned into a cosy reading room and book exchange. To keep things peaceful, cars are parked away from the huts, with luggage delivered by all-terrain vehicle. For walkers and cyclists, there’s secure cycle storage and a heated ‘Boot Box’ to dry coats and wellies after a day of exploring.

Meet Bibz, Chief of Staff

No story about Shepherds Retreat would be complete without Bibz, our little white dog and Chief of Staff. Whether she’s exploring the meadows, climbing on hay bales or greeting new arrivals, she’s as much a part of the retreat as we are.
